Food system resilience program
Objective of program: is to improve resilience of food systems and increase preparedness against food insecurity in selected project areas
Program component: The program has four components.
They are:
Component One: Transforming Agricultural Services and Innovation Systems
Objective: to increase the quality, relevance and coverage of agricultural services leading to increased adoption to improved technologies and Ag. Practices,
Component Two: Resilient Smallholder Irrigation Development and Management
Objective: to increase area of land equipped with irrigation infrastructure for improving availability of and access to irrigation water; and improving irrigation infrastructure governance and irrigation water use management to enhance sustainability
Component Three: Food Market Development
Objective: to increase marketed output of strategic agricultural products (including global market share) as well as rural employment opportunities by promoting enterprise growth along selected value chains, improving the efficiency of agricultural input and output markets, and promoting greater market orientation of smallholder farmers
Component Four: Improving Enabling Environment for Food Systems and project management
Objective: to support the operationalization and monitoring of the revised agriculture and rural development policy to increase smallholder farmers’ access to input and output markets and to have an efficient and a robust measurement system that would help to make the planning evidence based, measuring progress of results, assessing sectoral developments, and learning from achievements as it allows for informed decision-making and mid-course adjustments based on evidence.
